SHOP PHL FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The holiday season is here and with it PIDC is again promoting shopping local by taking part in a Shop PHL campaign.  PIDC’s Shop PHL promotion features 2012 clients that offer great options for gifts, entertainment, and spending time with family and friends.  From December 1st to December 21st, PIDC is doing a daily highlight on each one of the clients featured in the Shop PHL promotion on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to follow PIDC to learn more about these great businesses and organizations.  Shop PHL is currently being featured on the PIDC Blog at https://pidcphilablog.com/shop-phl-for-the-holidays as well as on PIDC’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Also taking part in Shop PHL campaign are the City of Philadelphia Department of Commerce, Philadelphia Convention Center and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB), Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation (GPTMC), The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC), Select Greater Philadelphia and other partner organizations and local businesses.

The Department of Commerce is promoting free meter parking after 11am on Saturdays through December 25th and encouraging shopping at small businesses.  They are also promoting commercial corridor businesses everyday on Facebook.

PHLCVB, which recently initiated the use of the “PHL” short code as a new brand for Philadelphia, is using #ShopPHL for any communication about shopping, promoting Philadelphia retailers through their multi-lingual website www.taxfreephilly.com , and will be placing PHL window decals in Center City businesses throughout December.

GPTMC is promoting art-inspired gifts through a dozen museum shops, galleries and boutiques—many of which are partners in the With Art Philadelphia marketing campaign to showcase the city as one of the world’s great art destinations—and the must-have gifts they’re wrapping up this year.  They are also providing shopping information on Twitter (@VisitPhilly, @Uwishunu).  Additionally, GPTMC  and Yahoo! collaborated on the following story about buying local: http://news.yahoo.com/philadelphia-made-gifts-2012-holidays-201900157.html

Finally, PIDC, The Department of Commerce, PHLCVB, GPTMC, GPCC, Select Greater Philadelphia, other partner organizations and local businesses will all be using the hashtag #ShopPHL on their social media sites to encourage everyone to shop local.  PIDC encourages shoppers to use #ShopPHL as you buy for your friends and loved ones this holiday season.

Happy Shopping and Happy Holidays!
