Manufacturer Resources that Increase Your Bottom Line

Earlier this month, PIDC partnered with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Manufacturing Alliance (SEPMA), Philadelphia Works, PECO, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to host a premiere event in celebration of Manufacturing Day. Manufacturer Resources that Increase Your Bottom Line featured a panel of experts who discussed how manufacturing companies in our region can access resources and cut costs utilizing programs that currently exist for the market.

During the event, speakers from each partnering organization shared information on programs available that allow manufacturers to save thousands of dollars in costs — from tax incentives to subsidized training. Moderated by Michael Pearson, formerly of Union Packaging, attendees heard from a panel of manufacturers who have taken advantage of many of these opportunities for their companies.

Panelists included:

Garrick Weaver, human resources generalist and human capital manager of Rhoads Industries — a strategic partner and total solution provider of industrial fabrication, installation and maintenance services and manufacturing facilities.

Jennifer Tenfelde, director of strategic human resources at Polysciences — a company divided into three broad divisions, which include laboratory products, custom synthesis and cGMP manufacturing, and contract manufacturing and packaging.

Kelly Hynes, human resources manager at Weber Display and Packaging — a family owned and operated company providing fine display and packaging solutions.

Ted McLaughlin, CEO and chairman of DiSorb Systems, Inc. — a company which manufactures and distributes a wide range of medical products to healthcare facilities throughout the world.

Gena Alulis, founder and CEO of CLIQ Jewelry — a company which uses CLIQ technology to combine precise engineering with artisan craftsmanship to ensure comfort, security, and a proper fit for jewelry.

Kevin O’Brien, founder of Kevin O’Brien Studio — a textile design and production company.
