John Pomp creates contemporary, handcrafted furniture and lighting pieces inspired by the natural beauty of the living world. Driven by a design philosophy that embraces organic imperfections, while adhering to traditional craftsmanship techniques, the collection seamlessly blends elements of hand-blown glass, precious metals, exotic woods and rich leathers.

John’s furniture and lighting pieces reflect the sophistication and beauty of a true artist. Each piece is not only finely crafted, it celebrates the hands that brought it to life, and the design world has certainly taken notice. John Pomp Studios has been featured in the Inc. 5000 annual ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America, the New York Times, Houzz, Elle Decor, and more.

John Pomp Studios was founded and based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1999 before making the move to Philadelphia in 2008. As the company began to grow, Founder, John Pomp,  soon realized he needed additional resources in the process. “We needed PIDC’s help to offset the enormous amount of expenses of running a business in the city,” says John. “PIDC helped finance one of our buildings back in 2012 and are helping us now finance another bigger facility to support our company’s continued growth.”

John was able to use a PIDC Capital Project Loan, along with commercial bank financing, to expand his business. “Thanks to PIDC’s assistance, we’ve grown our capacity to fill more orders, and the biggest thing — hire more people,” John told PIDC in a previous PIDC interview. “It feels great to offer full-time employment to our creative and artist communities, while also helping grow our Kensington neighborhood.”
