Comcast was founded in the Philadelphia region in 1963 when it purchased a small cable system based in Tupelo, Mississippi. It has since grown into a global media and technology company with 195,000 employees around the world. In 2008, Comcast opened the Comcast Center in Philadelphia as its global headquarters with PIDC providing funding for some of the development. From there, Comcast continued to grow exponentially.

Comcast recently redefined the Philadelphia skyline again with the newly opened Comcast Technology Center – standing 1,121 feet tall. The 60-floor state-of-the-art building opened to the public in October of 2018 and is an extension of Comcast’s vertical campus in Center City. It is the home of the company’s growing workforce of technologists, engineers, and software architects, NBC10 and Telemundo 62, and includes a luxury Four Seasons Hotel and restaurants, which will open in 2019.

Comcast is a major investor in Philadelphia and constant driving force behind the city’s growth. Comcast serves as a contributor to PIDC’s Contract Line of Credit and other small business efforts. PIDC is thrilled to count them as both a client and dedicated partner.
