Cecila and Nestor Torres are owners of Casa Papel – a boutique paper design and print company in Philadelphia. They specialize in creating one-of-kind design, stationery & paper solutions made with utmost craftsmanship. PIDC was able to get Casa Papel the flexible capital they needed to expand their business and launch online.
Walk into the beautiful and perfectly appointed studio on North 2nd Street in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, you’ll notice Casa Papel’s studio layout focuses on functionality, accessibility, and interactivity, while stimulating the senses. In one area, vibrant decorative papers are displayed on wooden hangers, allowing clients to see them up close and in full detail. The other walls display our five different specialty lines of paper and envelopes in our exclusive color palette. The overall accessibility allows clients to carry the papers throughout the studio as you choose other items and/or accessories to coordinate.
The studio offers the largest selection of decorative papers in the area, including Japanese prints. All of the papers and products at Casa Papel are of the highest quality and are hand selected by Cecila and Nestor.
Cecilia and Nestor identified the need for the services and products they offer at Casa Papel when they were designing invitations for their own wedding. They saw an opportunity and have been growing their business ever since. Nestor obtained new skills to help grow their business participating in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program. A PIDC Working Capital & Equipment Loan funded staff development, machinery, and implementation of a new website capable of e-commerce and order fulfillment. The Torreses worked with fellow Philadelphia small business owners and PIDC borrowers, Tracey and Mia Levesque of YIKES, to design and launch the e-commerce site.
PIDC joined Nestor and Cecila earlier this month to celebrate National Small Business Week and help them toast the launch of the new website. We look forward to their future growth and success.
