ASOCIACION PUERTORRIQUENOS EN MARCHA (APM) PROJECT FEATURED AT GREENBUILD 2013
Join PIDC on the road to Greenbuild! An expected 30,000 attendees from all over the world come together in just two weeks for Greenbuild, the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green building, for three days of outstanding education sessions, renowned speakers, a vast expo floor, green building tours, special seminars and networking events. The 2013 show will take place November 18-23 in Philadelphia, PA.
A special highlight of the conference will be the Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) project Paseo Verde, nation’s first LEED ND Platinum project, featured on a tour during Greenbuild. LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a program of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) that provides third-party verification of green buildings and a green building tool that addresses the entire building lifecycle recognizing best-in-class building strategies. According to USGBC, LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED ND) integrates the principles of smart growth, urbanism, and green building into the first national system for neighborhood design.
APM has been a PIDC client since 2009 and it has been incredible journey being a part of their growth. Paseo Verde is a truly amazing green community for Philadelphia and for the Temple University area. The inspiring goal of this community is to provide a healthy living environment for residents through sustainable practices, as well as cost savings through effective reduction in energy use. The building features energy efficient and water saving architectural design features such as green and blue roofs, efficient mechanical systems, ENERGY STAR-rated appliances and fixtures, low- or no-VOC paints and primers, and formaldehyde-free materials to enhance indoor air quality. The new property is currently open and accepting rental applications.
While you’re making plans to register for the APM tour, don’t forget to visit the PIDC booth (Booth T3) to learn more about PIDC and The Navy Yard’s sustainability and smart energy initiatives, or sign up for one of three tours featuring The Navy Yard. On Monday, November 18th, learn about The Navy Yard as a Sustainable Business Campus (TM02), which features a range of sustainable development including LEED buildings, historic renovations, open park space, and innovative stormwater management initiatives. In the afternoon, The Navy Yard as a Smart Energy Innovation Center (TM10) tour features the Energy Efficient Buildings Hub and their advanced energy retrofit, and the GridSTAR Smart Grid Experience Center, a demonstration project for smart-microgrids and a net zero energy building. Highlights from both tours are offered as a combined tour on Saturday, November 23 (TS06). You don’t need to be registered for the conference to attend a tour; space is limited.
