Torrado Construction

Torrado Construction was established in 1995 by Luis E Torrado, a North Philadelphia native, who is now President and Owner. Torrado Construction Company Inc. is a privately held general construction firm specializing in commercial construction, renovations and rehabilitations, concrete, removal services, and painting services.

Based on his training and education, Luis felt he could be most successful in the construction industry. He has a good understanding of people, both personal and professional and he understands the everyday situations that occur in owning and running a small, minority business. Luis grew his successful business from its humble beginnings – run from his parent’s home – into the multi-disciplined contracting firm that it is today.  Luis was nominated as a Rising Constructor in Construction Today magazine because of his exceptional skills as a professional, perfection-driven contractor. A Scholar in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program (Cohort 3), Luis has used his education to take his business even further.

Torrado Construction Company Inc., now based in Port Richmond, has grown into a business that is challenging and exciting. Luis feels a responsibility to his minority community as well as neighborhood community and continues to hire employees from his local area as an equal opportunity employer. Whenever possible Torrado Construction purchases from local businesses and supports local charities by participating regularly in community projects. Luis feels Torrado Construction has an obligation to share the success of the company locally, in hopes that others in his community will benefit from his home grown success.

Luis has been a PIDC Client since 2012 when Torrado Construction Company received a loan to bridge four construction contracts. In 2014 they added a line of credit. In 2015, building on their successful growth, Torrado Construction Company received a $1.5 million PIDC loan to acquire a new building. Recently, Luis joined PIDC as an expert presenter in the Construction Bidding Workshop, one of a four-part technical assistance series on the construction industry.
